David Beckham is known for his skills on the soccer field, his marriage with Posh Spice herself, and, most of all, his classic good looks. So, when a fan accused him of getting Botox, he reaffirmed that his youthful glow was au naturel.
Refinery29 reports that the former footballer was attending wife Victoria Beckham’s fashion show during New York City Fashion week when he was photographed in his usual dapper form. British Vogue shared the photo on Instagram, and one fan decided to comment on his skin:
“Botox looks good on David!” Instagram user @stasdoeshair wrote in the comment section.
And Beckham wasted no time posting a response: “I don’t agree with Botox miss @stasdoeshair but I’ll take it as a compliment.”
Having been voted “Sexiest Man Alive” by People in 2015, the 42-year-old star is apparently committed to avoiding cosmetic surgery.
Not that there is anything wrong with Botox. In fact, another retired sports star is endorsing the product, which remains the most popular procedure for women over 35. BET reports that ex-NFL player Deion Sanders is tearing down any negative connotations and masculine stereotypes by speaking out about his experience with Botox.
“Fifty is the new 21,” Deion said in a statement, according to BET. “I feel young, I feel very energetic, I feel like taking on the world. I feel like challenging people to work out, to live right, to eat healthy, to make the proper decisions in life. I really feel good. I am in a really good place in life.”
He also told BET that he is proud to pioneer the end of the Botox stigma and will even be serving as a Botox Cosmetic
“There are a lot of things that I have been the forerunner of,” he said. “So, I had never played football and baseball in the same day, so I did that. So, I don’t mind being a leader when it comes to this because it really helps. I feel like I look good, and I feel good.”
